The empty bed beside hers was the first thing Buffy saw when her eyes
fluttered open in the morning sun. Her slashed golden tresses were the
second.

Buffy bolted out of bed, grabbing the chunks of hair in handfuls. She
shook
in front of the mirror, her face crumpled in shock. Her long, beautiful
hair
lay limp, hacked in her hands, shoulders, on the floor, her pillow. She
cried out as more pieces fell from her head.

-----

Giles hung up the phone, anger overtaking him. He quickly dressed,
grabbing
his glasses. The librarian again reached for the phone, ready to
assemble
the gang.

-----

Forty-five minutes later, the Scooby Gang, minus Willow sat gathered in
Giles' living room. Xander and Anya, on the floor, holding hands,
staring
worriedly at Buffy.

The Slayer was distraught over the idea of someone doing something so
horrible to her. She held her head in her hands, stroking the jagged
strands
shakily.

"This is sick." Xander broke the silence. "Why would someone hack the
mane
of the Buff?" He glanced from person to person, before letting his gaze
fall
on Buffy's red-rimmed eyes.

"I quite agree." Giles stated. "Whoever did this quite possibly has
something personal against Buffy. And since Spike has disappeared, it
leads
me to believe..."

"Willow." Buffy interrupted, staring at the floor.

Giles stopped, removing his glasses to look at her more closely.
"Willow?"

She looked up. "She's gone. She vanished at the same time Spike did."

"Spike has her?" Xander interjected. "Assemble Scooby Gang, let's go
get her
back."

Buffy looked doubtful, slowly pulling herself out of her reviere. "He
can't
kill her, and he couldn't force her to go anywhere. If she's with him,
she
went with him willingly."

The room fell silent. Anya was the first to speak.

"You think Willow did this? Why?"

Buffy had no answer.

-----

The figure moved from the window. She didn't want to listen anymore. As
much
as the discussion, their pain, their confusion pleased her, plans were
to
made, things needed to be attended to. She glanced both ways before
crossing
the courtyard, her redhair shining in the morning sun.

Plans were to be made.
