Willow stared. She couldn't seem to pull
her eyes from his.
The stare was intense, the heat between them. Well, Willow's
heat, Spike's...just Spike was enough to get her going. She
felt more desire then she ever did with Oz.
Oz.
She pulled back, raising a finger to her
lips, touching what
could have touched him. She instantly regretted the action.
"This is wrong."
"Don't be so serious." Spike scolded. "I
want you, you want
me. What's the problem?"
"I want more...I don't want to just fall
for someone all over
again and get my heart broken." Willow glanced down at her
hands. "I want to know I'm loved back. Before anything happens.
Can you give that to me?" She asked hopefully.
Spike cleared his throat. "I like you,
pet. But that's all.
You fascinate me, but you're also a human..."
"So?" She interrupted. "Buffy and Angel
had the human slash
vampire thing. You make it sound so farfetched."
"Angel had a soul, luv." He spoke gently.
"I'd want to have
fun with you, and I really do like you, but like is like..."
"...love is love." Willow finished bitterly.
"Of course, I
understand. Love 'em and leave 'em. Or LIKE and leave 'em.
Right?"
"I don't have a soul." Spike repeated quietly.
"I don't fell
the remorse, but I know if I did, I'd be sorry, ducks."
"Stop. I'm not your pet or your ducks,
and I know I'm not your
love. I thought that kiss meant something." Willow stood, angry
tears stinging her eyes. "Guess I was wrong. Next time you
want to act all sweet and give a girl some hope, try backing
it up with something."
She turned and stormed out of the apartment,
slamming the door
behind her.
Spike sat alone in the dark, feeling nothing.
He stared where
she had left.
